No Boyfriend, No Problem

Being single on Valentine’s Day can make a girl feel quite lonely. But this is no excuse to wallow in your self-pity! If you don’t have a man to love on, than celebrate your friendships with your closest gal pals.

We decided to make a guide on how we made the most of our Galentine’s Day:

Brunch it up
One of the hardest parts of living in Nashville is choosing which one of the amazing brunch places we are going to eat at that morning. With restaurants like, BrickTops, First Watch, Sky Blue Cafe, and Pinewood Social, it was not an easy decision to make. We ended up choosing a personal favorite of ours, Milk & Honey. We love their quick wait times, eye catching decor, accommodating staff, simple menu, and fresh ingredients. Nicolette went for the classic ‘Chicken & Waffles,’ while Ashley tried out the ‘Hot Mess.’

Craft time
The best part about Valentine’s Day in Elementary School was trading cards between all your classmates. Creating handmade cards for your girlfriends is a great way to show your appreciation and love for them. And it’s so simple! We went to Michael's and bought some plain brown cards, red sharpie markers, and assorted scrapbook paper. We’re not the most artistic people, so we looked to Pinterest for inspiration on creative ideas.

Get Cookin Good Lookin’!
Pinterest is our best friend when looking up delicious recipes that are easy to make and great to taste. We made a simple chicken alfredo, with a side of ceasar salad and garlic bread. This meal was sooo yummy, took a small basket of ingredients, and was super quick to prepare. Some of our other favorite meals to whip up together are Kielbasa Hash, Ratatouille, and Asian Lettuce Wraps.

RomCom’s...duh?!
RomCom’s gives us that lovey dovey feel that makes our hearts squeeze, combined with the lightheartedness of a stream line of jokes. We popped in a couple movies while we were doing our crafts and snacking on some girl scout cookies (thin mints, of course). We started with She’s All That, your stereotypical romcom from the late 90’s where the school’s heartthrob makes a bet that he can transform the school nerd into Prom Queen. This movie fulfills our high school fantasies of the school’s hottest guy finally taking notice of us. We also watched Girls Trip, a fairly new movie that revolves around four adult best friends taking on New Orleans and testing their friendships. This movie has us laughing non-stop, AND had us planning our next road trip (hmmm...possible future blog post)

We had movie night back at our dear friend, Kathy P’s apartment. She has her living room decorated with this super-easy, yet super-cute decor to liven up the place and give it a home-y feel

Dip some strawberries
So this actually took two tries, thanks to Nicolette’s tendency to burn things. We used Dolci melting chocolate, and we had better luck melting it over the oven burner, rather than the microwave. We also made sure to buy long-stemmed strawberries that just made them much easier to dip and prettier to look at--almost too pretty to eat, almost we said...they were definitely delicious.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a day where you feel ashamed or lonely because of your relationship status. Having quality time with your girlfriends is so important, and Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to spend the whole day together.

What are your Valentine's Day plans? Wait and see what we’ll do next!
