Tips & Tricks for Bonnaroo

Manchester, Tennessee is known for one thing, and (let’s be real) one thing only--the annual music and arts festival: BONNAROO. A weekend full of dirty, hot, sweaty bliss. This 4 day camping festival, has you waking up with the sun, listening to music all day, and partying until late hours of the night.

A truly euphoric weekend that we were lucky enough to experience last year. With the likes of Paramore, The Killers, Eminem, and Bassnectar--their lineup just gets better each year.

Tip and Tricks:

  • Although it’s obviously too late this year, buy your tickets early, the earlier the better, pre-sale ensures that you get the biggest bang for your buck. Every year they have a killer lineup, that will leave no festival goer disappointed. We bought our pre-sale tickets in December so we could take advantage of that Tier 1 pricing!
  • Buy with a group, this will get you into the car camping package...AKA more space to get you a sweet camping setup. The more the merrier!
  • Go cashless!! Hook up your PayPal information to your wristband. Carrying money or cards around while you are bumping and jumping is dangerous (just ask Ash), so by doing so you can check out with the swipe of your wrist.
  • Drink...lots of water. Summer in Tennessee is unforgiving. The sun beats down on you, and there’s no way to avoid it. We can’t press it enough, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Make sure to come with a camelback or a reusable water bottle so you can take make use of their many water refill stations.
  • Bring any and all liquor, beer, or wine you're bringing in plastic containers. Glass is not allowed, and honestly heavy and dangerous. Save the hassle with plastic handles, canned 24-packs, and/or bagged wine. Keep it safe y'all.
  • Pack snacks! Food is yummy in the Roo site, but it’s also very expensive. Save yourself a daily fortune by bringing fruit, sandwiches, and granola bars to munch on. Don’t forget to splurge every once in awhile because there are some great local food vendors.
  • Check out the line up before you go. There are hundreds of acts and performances of all various genres and styles. Make a game plan, but feel free to stray as you go. With stages like “this stage,” “that stage,” and “what stage,” it gets pretty confusing...set your sites so your not overwhelmed when you get in. We highly suggest downloading the Bonnaroo app, where you can make your own schedule, download the site map and see who will be playing next.
  • Stay as hygienic as possible. You’re not going to be squeaky clean...it’s just not going to happen. With a hardy supply of baby wipes, and jugs of water you can definitely get the grime off. Showers cost $5, and are only open during the day...get up in the morning or early afternoon and scrub a dub dub before heading in.
  • Fanny pack it up. We know, we know they’re goofy, they’re funny looking, but they’re so useful and honestly everyone where’s them here! You will fit right in with the rest of the fanny-pack wearing gals and guys. It’s the perfect way to store your phone, a map, and any other small necessities right at your waist.
  • There is SO much going on besides just the music at the set stages, make sure to explore your campsite and surrounding sites, check out local vendors and groups, and just live in the moment with your friends over the weekend! Some of our favorite finds besides the great lineup was late night karaoke with T-Pain, tonalism (please look this up, it was beautiful), riding around on "Big Red"--an oversized party car, and getting glittered up all day everyday.

Bonnaroo is less than a month away, going from June 13-16. There’s still time to buy yourself a ticket if you want to have the time of your life! Here are our favorite artists on the 2019 lineup:

Nic--Childish Gambino, Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Quinn XCII, The Lumineers, and Cardi B.

Ash: Hozier, Maren Morris, Griz, ZHU, King Princess, AJR, Odesza, Space Jesus, and Cardi B!

And that’s a wrap on our Roo Recommendations! To all those going, stay safe and have fun...to all those not going, start prepping your savings for next year (you might see us there!). Wait and see what we’ll do next.
