A Year of Yelping

It is official. Your girls are back on Yelp Elite for Year 2. And guys, if you have not jumped on Yelp yet, you are truly missing out. This community loves to explore the city around them, finding the best and newest spots around town.

Surely you have all heard of Yelp. It’s a platform that helps connect people with businesses through engagements such as photos, reviews, check-ins, and likes. It is a great way to find restaurants, home services, gyms, hair salons,
auto services, nightlife, everything for everyone really.

Now what is Yelp Elite, also known as YES (Yelp’s Elite Squad), other than a dorky title that we love to hold? It is a community of active Yelpers that share their experiences at businesses often and in a quality fashion. In addition to the “verified” yelp badge that you receive on your profile, you get to attend exclusive events across the city with other YES members. In this post we want to share some of our YES perks and events, in a humblebrag fashion..in hopes that you will join us and Yelp!!

CMYE: What’s Up, Dawg? - April at Dog Haus Biergarten

CMYE is super cool! As it is open to the entire Yelp community, and you do not have to be a Yelp Elite member to attend. Of course, there is always limited space so make sure to get your RSVP in! This was Nic’s first taste of the Yelp community, and it was such a blast. Going out to Murfreesboro we were greeted with an open bar, endless hot dog and burger samples, all topped off with dessert. This was such a fun event as Nic was able to meet other Yelp members, and form relationships with some fellow female Yelpers.

Yelp Sees Food - April at Pemrose

NIc’s second Yelp Elite event, was not disappointing. Missing that coastal seafood, Pemrose is a high end seafood restaurant that is relatively new to the Gulch. This was a menu sampling with four entrees and sides with cocktails. We had everything from sushi, karage chicken, seafood bolognese, strawberry vodka martinis and shots of sake. This family style experience made it easy to mingle with fellow Yelpers and get to know more of the local community.

Yelp’s Taste Of An Original - June at Puckett’s Grocery

Ash had a first taste of Yelp as Nic’s plus-one! We headed all the way back to Murfreesboro again for an evening at Puckett’s. This is a classic restaurant well-known in Tennessee for their good ole’ southern cooking with several locations across the state. At entry we received drinks tickets for beer and wine to pair with some of Puckett’s best selling menu items. As we dined we listened to the restaurant's iconic live music. We loved the fun atmosphere as we ate with fellow Yelp girlfriends.

CMYE: Colline Very - July at Carrabba’s Italian Grill

Ash’s first official event as a Yelp elite was one for the books! We got a full FOUR COURSE meal with wine pairing! Set up in their event space, we were sat at a lengthy table that had us reminiscent of Thanksgiving dinner, and it sure did feel like Thanksgiving with how much food we had. Before each course we were given educational tidbits on Carrabba’s history, the dish ingredients, and the wine flavors. This is one of our favorite Yelp events to date as it was our first Yelp event together as Elites and the service was as great as the food.

CMYE: Yelp Kicks Axe! - June at Class Axe Throwing

That’s right another community event! This is a great way to get just a taste of the Yelp community, and allows us to meet new people around the city. We finally had a non-food centric event. Axe throwing is the nation’s latest and greatest activity, with axe throwing locations popping up everywhere. This was our first chance at axe throwing--and it was a GREAT way to blow off some steam. Like most other axe throwing business, Class Axe is BYOB, and while we did not personally partake this go around, it would make for a perfect GNO. The instructors truly make the experience, with their quirky sense of humor, and strategic training on executing the perfect axe throw.

Yelp A Horse - July at John Rich’s Redneck Riviera

We have never had a Tuesday Night quite like this one. Yelp sure does know how to throw a party. We spent the evening Downtown on Broadway, interacting with some great businesses. We started and ended the night at John Rich’s Redneck Riviera for whiskey tasting, catering from Jim ‘n Nick’s, live music from Colt Barron (country of course!), and line dancing taught by Jenny Cain. Now in between all of this we hopped on a party bus, driving across the downtown area, dancing the Tuesday night blue’s away. This event was by far the most interactive with all the elements involved. No Tuesday will ever be the same, and if you ever find yourself at Redneck Riviera, be sure to try their signature drink, Saddle Up!

Find Your Yelp - August at Waldo’s Chicken & Beer

Yelp allowed us to welcome Germantown’s newest chicken restaurant, Waldo’s. With the warm weather breezing, we had our share of the patio as we dined on some fine fried chicken. The chicken paired with ALLLLL the sauces were fabulous and we can't forget about the bottomless flavored vodka lemonades we had. Does it get any better than patio weather, chicken, and booze? Waldo's is a great Happy Hour spot, with deals and plenty of TV screens for late night those game viewings (go Titans!!). Unfortunately, this was our last event with long time Community Director, Johnny--now he is on to bigger and better things!

Yelp on the HIgh Seas - October at Bonefish Grill

We were excited about this event before we even got there! Bonefish is a favorite on both of our ends, and it had been awhile since we had made it out there. We have never dined at Bonefish Grill quite as elaborately as we had through Yelp. This three course meal gave us an appetizer sampler, entree dish, and dessert each paired with beautiful cocktails and wine. The service was great as usual, and we loved trying some new dishes at Bonefish! This was our one and only event put on by interim Community Director, Brittany--and she is absolutely stunning and lively, Indianapolis is lucky to have such a vibrant leader!

Elite Week: Clean Juice - December

Talking about all this food and booze reminds us that Nashville is home to many healthy, clean dining options. This was a bit different than a standard Yelp event, as it was a week long event open for us to come and go on the date of our preference. We opted to go early in the morning for a midweek pick-me-up before our 9-to-5 jobs. We were able to walk in, get our names checked off, and choose a complimentary menu item. We opted to try their avocado toast and almond butter toast. We also checked out their juice cleanses, and are considering trying one of their fresh daily cleanses. This was a fun, convenient way that Yelp helped us try out a new business again!

If all of these perks are not enough to push you to join the Yelp community, we do not know what will!! The free meals, drinks, merchandise, and ultimately the community atmosphere that gets us around town is what keeps us Yelping. Quick sidenote: nothing in life is truly free, be a sweetie and ALWAYS tip for the gracious service that is offered at these businesses.

We hope to SYOY (see you on yelp)!! Nashville has a very active Yelp community, but cities across the world are on Yelp, so make sure to check out your local community page. Thanks for reading, and wait and see what we’ll do next!
